A Strange New Beauty

Photography lends itself to the type of serial approach to making that animates my work in other media. Taking pictures of my surroundings keeps me looking, thinking, and acting. It’s a way of being in the world when it might be easier to hide out in the studio. People like having their picture taken, and walking around with a sixty-year-old camera is a conversation starter. I shoot exclusively on film, mostly black and white, and develop the rolls myself.
